11 West is heading due South
O'burg News 9 Exclusive report-
When you first approach the 11 West restaurant you expecting to walk into a law office or doctors. Not even really hints at a restaurant but some copycat Burger King Flame on the Boring Road sign above the 11 West. When you get into the restaurant your greeted by a confused staff that asks if you have a reservation for an empty restaurant and are told the bar is the only walk-in seating.
Decor is dated and boring. With unlit, unframed pictures on the wall and a large clock we have all seen at Wal*Mart.
With that we approached the boring, uninviting bar. Seats pushed in face first instead of at an angle for ease in mounting like most restaurants with attention to detail... As we sat and looked around at the two in-your-face white indiscrete cameras staring at you the mood was already uncomfortable. At least put them on the black ceiling and be black cameras on black wall. Just more discreet.
The uninterested, distracted bartender ask for our drink order not even suggesting any of their craft beers or remotely interested in if we were there or not... almost felt as if we were bothering her as she looked at the door in hopes that nobody else came to sit at the boring bar that did not have a reservation. .... not a great start.
As we sat at the bar an employee came out and called the bartenders name with food in his hand. Well at least now we knew her name.
After observing the room, I noticed an older woman gets out of her booth to get up and look at the draft specials. When she approached the sign, she asked the waitress leaning on the bar with her face planted in her palm if those were the draft specials, The waitress replied with an unenthusiastic yes and turned back looking at the bartender not even remotely interested in trying to sell her on one, pathetic. In the words of our president " You're Fired"
We finally received our appetizer of spinach and artichoke dip, which was delicious, so hopes were high at this point for the dinner to fallow.
I ordered the Broccoli Alfredo and added the $8 up charge chicken, and my friend ordered the Cowboy burger with sweet potato fries, but they were out of the sweet potato fries, so he opted for the regular fries.
Upon receiving our dinners with the empty appetizer dish still in front of us, the presentation of the food was nice. His burger had the 11 West logo burnt into the bun with a knife threw it and the fries in the over played frying basket with two pickle slices you'd get on a fast-food burger.
My entree was presented in a bowl that looked like it was melted on one side, and the food was going to fall out but hat off for trying to look fancy, but a spoon would have been nice to twist the pasta. Upon first bite my taste buds were smacked with a fishy taste. Yuk. The $8 chicken looked like it was pounded to death and was tough and stringy. The broccoli was as dry as a desert tumble weed. I've had better Chicken Broccoli Alfredo at a roadside diner.
All in All, a generous 2 Star out of 5
